Easier Shipping: The disassembled components (hub and blades) are easier to transport, and handle compared to a large monoblock propeller. When a large monoblock does not fit inside a standard container, shipping options are greatly reduced resulting in longer shipping times and higher costs. Blades can be manufactured and airfreighted to replace damaged blades in weeks, compared to months required to replace a conventional monoblock propeller.
Simplified Installation: The propeller can be assembled on-site, simplifying logistics and handling, especially for larger propellers. Installing only the hub on the shaft without the blades facilitates fitting to the taper of the shaft.
